Permanent Assistant School Keeper

Grade: Grade 2-3, point 14-17 depending on experience

Salary: £18,657 - £19,623 pro rata (£9,243 - £9,722 per annum, actual salary)

Hours: 20 hours per week with additional overtime and lettings as required

We wish to appoint a highly motivated, caring and committed person to work in our friendly and supportive schools, assisting our School Keeper to make sure that the schools sites are safe, secure and ready for use by pupils, staff and other school users. The person we are looking for should be flexible, self-motivated and able to use their own initiatve, taking pride in their work.

The successful candidate must have good general maintenance skills and some knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and procedures would be desirable.

The main responsibilities of an Assistant School Keeper would usually include:

  • Locking and unlocking of the schools
  • Cleaning, including cleaning at height
  • Emergency repairs
  • Site safety and security
  • Portering, which may include heavy lifting
  • Monitoring the use of the school site by other people
  • Lettings in addition to working hours
