Year 1 Class Teacher

Band 2 (£30,000)

We are a successful and positive 2 form entry community school, serving the areas of Hornchurch and Harold Wood on the Essex borders and we are looking to recruit a Year 1 teacher. The school has also been graded as "Good" in our last 2 Ofsted inspections (most recently in May 2017). The Head Teacher and Governors are currently looking for an experienced, highly motivated and creative class teacher to join our enthusiastic and supportive team with a successful track record of working in more than one mainstream setting. The successful candidate joins us at an exciting time as we seek to develop further our foundation setting, in particular the transition from Early Years into Key Stage 1 and we seek someone who holds specialist skills/qualifications in child psychology, with a particular understanding of developmental psychology in regards to how developmental principles apply to a variety of situations and how we as practitioners use that knowledge to reach the children in the classroom. Due to the range of needs across the school this post holder will be expected, as per teachers career expectations, to lead staff training and act as a mentor with other staff as we continue to develop our whole school priority of rescilience. Having experience and relevant training with teaching children with special educational needs would be advantageous, articulating this aspect of learning would be expected at interview.

Each phase of our school has a Year Group Leader and planning is in place to be tailored to the needs of your new class. Each class in our school has a dedicated and highly skilled teaching assistant. We also have our own sports coaches to support the delivery of PE lessons. PPA is given to every teacher with their year group partner and, on top of this we provide release time monthly for subject leadership along with some assembly time for teachers to take groups and be creative within their classroom settings.
