SEN Teaching Assistant (Working 1:1 with a child with moderate behaviour needs)

Required from September 2018

Contract: Temporary to July 2019

Hours: 26.25 hours per week, 38 week per year (8.45am – 3.15pm)

Grade: APTC Scale 2/3, points 11 - 17 - depending on experience

Actual pro rata salary: £11,991 - £12,338 pa

 

We are looking to appoint a temporary SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team.

The position requires a patient, positive and caring individual who can provide curriculum support and help pupils gain confidence and independence under the direction of the class teacher. Any previous experience of working with children with learning / behavioural difficulties would be highly beneficial.

Qualifications –NVQ Level 2 or above

  • Be patient in dealing with children with behavioural needs
  • Be an effective communicator with pupils and staff
  • Possess good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Be able to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Be committed to working a part of team

Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher you must also have the ability to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities: creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate. You will be expected to work in partnership and liaise with external agencies to support the child’s learning and development.
