Pastoral Leader and Personal Assistant to Designated Safeguarding Leader

Start date: On clearance of DBS as soon as possible for handover purposes.

52 weeks per year

Grade 3 – 30.85 hours however with compact hours

Due to the promotion of our wonderful existing postholder, who has continued to shape our schools safeguarding procedures and has taken a lead role in supporting our Head Teacher in bringing agencies and services together is moving on to develop her career further, therefore an exciting opportunity has arisen at Harold Court Primary where we are seeking to appoint a skilled practitioner who will adopt the role of Pastoral Leader and PA to our Designated Safeguarding Lead across the school, leading on CP recording and organisation alongside report writing and attending conferences. The successful candidate will work alongside our families and their children in developing better outcomes where appropriate using the wide range of services within our Local authority and beyond. The postholder will be repsonsible for gathering information in drafting MARF and EHA forms.

The successful candidate will need to have a clear vision of what safeguarding looks like in schools, how they will support the vision and ethos of our school and have initiative in supporting the work of our Head Teacher through knowledge of safeguarding policies, procedures and practices, together with experience of working with children and parents with a wide range of needs.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience and be qualified or willing to undertake training to LSCB Level 2 and above.  It is also desirable that the post holder can drive and holds a valid drivers licence with appropriate business insurance to visit families as and when needed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent practitioner who can engage and enthuse all pupils with varying needs
  • Always be respectful and courteous however firm but fair when dealing with situations
  • Analyitcal and strategic
  • Be passionate about supporting all groups of children in order to enhance the quality of their learning and raise pupil achievement
  • Demonstrate excellent IT skills e.g. Powerpoint/Excel some or any experience of SIMS would also be advantagous
  • Be extremely flexible and work well as part of a team
  • Have experience of working in a school environment
  • Have excellent communication skills sharing information with a range of stakeholders
  • Lead governors audits around safeguarding
  • Liaise with other heads of department such as Office and Site in ensuring our school is ALWAYS 'safeguarding aware'
  • Lead staff meetings and training where appropriate
  • Liaise with all Senior staff where appropriate
  • Produce a range of materials following on-going and continuous training provided both by the LA and LSCB for Havering
  • Be hard working, patient and caring
  • Lead on pastoral forums across the LA.
  • Have a sense of humour

This role does include 52 weeks per year pro rata due to the admin aspects of the role and review with SLT over this time.
