Head of Year

Scale: SO1 point 29-31

Hours: 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Salary: £24,362- £25,868 (actual salary)

We are seeking to appoint an additional Head of Year to join our Pastoral Team, establishing a positive ethos, identity and who will monitor the standards of achievement and behaviour within the cohort. You will be responsible for providing pastoral care for our students and support to parents and families. In addition, Heads of Year provide cover supervision for absent teachers.

You need to be a caring, resilient person, committed to the success of our students. The ability to communicate effectively with a range of people is essential. Recent experience of working with young people is also essential.

We are seeking someone who is highly motivated, flexible, organised and who enjoys working with young people. You must be able to enthuse, engage, motivate and challenge students to raise academic achievement and outcomes.

The successful applicant will be organised, hard-working, an effective communicator and will be able to use ICT efficiently.  

You will be required to work with key personnel in school and other external agencies. Applicants will need to be adaptable, creative and flexible and have the ability to work with minimum supervisory and will have excellent organisational skills. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is essential.

We welcome visits to the school from potential applicants.

Royal Liberty is a small, comprehensive, 11-16 school for boys. We occupy a Grade II listed building in a pleasant site. The school has been judged as good in its last 2 OFSTED inspections and we are constantly striving to improve further.

We have received confirmation that we will receive funding through the Priority Schools Building Programme and are looking forward to using this to enhance the education we provide for our students.

The 'Success for All Educational Trust' is a newly formed trust that currently consists of Redden Court School and The Royal Liberty School.
